RABIES VACCINATIONS $10.00
Will be a 1-year vaccine unless you provide proof of prior/current vaccination status (*** current or previous rabies certificate *** tags are NOT proof ***) to receive a 3-year vaccine!
If altered (spayed/neutered…valid proof required) $10.50 and if not altered (intact) $16.50
You MUST have a dog license in Alpena County to avoid a $150 fine.
Remember dog license fees double on March 1, 2022.
(You can stop by just to buy a dog license with proof of current rabies vaccination)
Must pay for rabies vaccination and dog license(s) separately.
Exact cash or check accepted.
Do NOT have to be a resident of Alpena County to get a rabies vaccination.
*** If you know your dog is dog aggressive, please leave your dog in your vehicle. We will vaccinate those dogs at the vehicle.
*** Be prepared to pick up after your dog if it has a potty accident.

The Alpena County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Officer is responsible for the enforcement of state laws and county ordinances pertaining to the care, control, treatment, and licensing of domestic animals with a priority to protect public safety and animal welfare.
It is the mission of the Alpena County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Officer to provide humane animal control by protecting the health, safety and well-being of citizens and domestic animals by effectively using resources available through education, community partnerships, investigative law enforcement, compassion towards animals and promotion of responsible pet and domestic animal ownership.
Alpena County Animal Control operates a county shelter located at the Alpena County Fairgrounds to house and care for animals taken into custody by the Alpena County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Officer.
