Animal Control
Animal Control is a division of The Alpena County Sheriff's Office. Our Animal Control Officer, Michelle Reid, is a certified deputy as well as a licensed veterinary technician.
Alpena County Sheriff's Office Animal Control is responsible for the enforcement of state laws and county ordinances pertaining to the care, control, treatment, and licensing of domestic animals with a priority to protect public safety and animal welfare.

All animal complaints must go through Central Dispatch by calling 989-354-9111.
- To report stray dogs, animal neglect and abuse or any other animal complaint
- Domestic animals and livestock only
- We do not deal with free-roaming cats. It is not against the law for cats to roam

- To inquire about adoptable shelter guests
